
Volunteer Transportation Program Specialist

Job Description
As a Volunteer Transportation Specialist, you will provide functional support to build, sustain, and energize the departmental and/or volunteer workforce, creating a foundation of continuous and robust volunteer engagement, collaborating with volunteer services staff, and supporting departmental programs.
Key Responsibilities
Participate in volunteer workforce planning within assigned area.
Support functional leads and supervisors in engaging the volunteer workforce aligned with the volunteer recruitment and engagement cycle.
Engage volunteers as equal team members with specific responsibilities; support the workforce engagement team.
Assist with the training and skill development of volunteers to enable mission delivery.
Strive to achieve a diverse workforce, including disabilities and functional needs, representative of the communities served.
Support the implementation of a targeted volunteer engagement plan. Manage assigned program goals, objectives, policies, and procedures in alignment with established metrics. Evaluate and report on the capacity and effectiveness of programs and services. Prepare recommendations for continuous improvement.
May support mission‑related components by implementing sound workforce engagement principles and practices to build effective teams in areas of operations and program service delivery.
Schedule
Monday – Friday: 8 am – 4:30 pm. On call to take calls from volunteers.
Pay Information
$47,000 – $52,000 based on relevant experience.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree required.
Minimum 3 years related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Skills & Abilities: Ability to work on a team; coordinate staff and volunteer activities; excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills; develop project plans and budgets; in‑depth knowledge of program or service; create presentations and training modules; analytical and decision‑making skills to interpret program trends, results, and formulate recommendations; proven track record of collaboration with diverse groups, managing multiple priorities, facilitation, problem solving, marketing, leadership, and partnership management; planning, public speaking, project management, and process improvement; customer‑oriented, organized, solution‑oriented; intermediate proficiency with MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook); familiarity with federal, state, and local employment laws.
Travel may be required.
Preferred Qualifications
Prior experience working with volunteer workforce; experience in transportation.
