DESCRIPTION OF WORK

As an Installation Security Officer, you will perform security services to protect the property, personnel, and visitors of Fort Indiantown Gap. Your core duties will include conducting foot and vehicle patrols of buildings and grounds to enforce post regulations, identify hazards, and respond to unusual incidents according to established policies. You will be responsible for managing access control points and restricted areas, screening all individuals to determine their authorization and purpose for entry. Maintaining a secure environment will require constant vigilance through physical and visual checks of high-threat areas. In cases of non-compliance, you will wear protective body armor and utilize non-lethal equipment, such as tasers or pepper spray, to subdue aggressive offenders when negotiations prove ineffective. Additionally, you will serve as a first responder for routine and emergency calls including fires, vehicle accidents, and building alarms while assisting police and other emergency services as required. Your role also encompasses directing traffic and enforcing parking regulations to ensure safe and orderly operations throughout the installation.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment, 12-hour shifts
  • Work hours are 6:00 AM to 6:00 PM and 6:00 PM to 6:00 AM, with rotating days off. Schedule may change based on operational needs.
  • Travel and overtime as operationally necessary
  • Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.
  • Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • Two years of security, law enforcement, or military experience; or
  • An equivalent combination of experience and training.

Special Requirements:
  • This position requires possession of an active motor vehicle license.
  • You must obtain active National Crime Information Center (NCIC) certification issued by the Federal Bureau of Investigation within the probationary period and maintain certification for the duration of employment in this job.
  • You must obtain active Commonwealth Law Enforcement Assistance Network (CLEAN) and Pennsylvania Justice Network (JNET) certifications issued by the Pennsylvania State Police within the probationary period and maintain certification for the duration of employment in this job.
  • You must obtain a Common Access Card (CAC) as issued by the federal Department of Defense within the probationary period and maintain access for the duration of employment in this job.

Additional Requirements:
  • You must possess a valid federal or state-issued photo ID and pass a favorable NCIC screening for admittance to Fort Indiantown Gap.
  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.
