As an Insurance Investigator with the Bureau of Licensing and Enforcement, you will play a pivotal part in safeguarding the licensing process, thoroughly evaluating applicant backgrounds and uncovering key details that ensure only qualified individuals are approved. Your work will enhance the efficiency, accuracy, and credibility of licensing operations, making a meaningful impact every day!
As an Insurance Investigator 2, you will review and evaluate background information for license applicants and current licensees to ensure compliance with Pennsylvania insurance laws. Work involves responding to inquiries from industry representatives and the public, managing investigative casework, and developing work plans to guide timely and thorough reviews. You will also have the opportunity to analyze applications, renewal findings, and criminal history reports; conduct interviews; and prepare recommendations on licensing decisions and potential violations. Additional responsibilities include:
- Testifying at formal proceedings
- Assisting with license examination reviews
- Supporting ongoing compliance efforts by ensuring all requirements are met
- Providing guidance on complex licensing and investigative matters

Work Schedule and Additional Information:
- Full-time employment
- Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
- Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Harrisburg. The ability to telework is subject to change at any time. Additional details may be provided during the interview.

QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
- One year as an Insurance Investigator 1 (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration); or
- Seven years of experience as an insurance investigator, underwriter, agent, broker or claims adjuster. College level training may be substituted on a year-for-year basis for four years of the required experience; or
- An equivalent combination of experience and training.
