Would you like physical work in the outdoors, for a state agency that provides fishing and boating opportunities for individuals and families in Pennsylvania's many lakes, river, and streams? Would you be interested in a position that could turn into permanent employment after a successful training period (that includes obtaining a Commercial Driver's License)? Then this may be the job for you!
DESCRIPTION OF WORK
As a Fish Culturist 1, you will learn how to collect and select brood stock while handling the fish in a manner that minimizes stress, injury, and mortality. You will also learn how to operate a fish stocking vehicle in a safe and timely manner, load and transport fish, monitor fish, and take appropriate action to deliver the fish in excellent condition. Work involves completing repairs and maintenance to buildings, equipment, and grounds in an effort to maximize efficiency of propagation, care, and stocking.
If you enjoy working outdoors, care about natural resources, and are eager to learn the skills needed to raise and care for fish that support recreational fishing and conservations programs, we need you on our team!
