THE POSITION

Do you believe that: Children do best when raised in families within their communities? Everyone has the capacity to succeed in a system that is family-focused, child-centered, and community-based? The best outcomes are achieved through a team approach with shared responsibilities for children, families, and communities? Each family is unique and must be given the opportunity to have their voices heard? How we do our work is as important as the work we do? A motivated, highly skilled, well-trained, and supportive workforce encourages positive familial outcomes? A diverse workforce is strengthened by inclusivity efforts?

If you do, then we need you to bring your talents to our team to lift these shared values and strengthen each child and family, our communities, and our generation.

McKean County Department of Human Services

DESCRIPTION OF WORK

There are two categories of Caseworker within our Children and Youth Services Department. As an Intake Caseworker, an employee will investigate and assess reports and referrals within a time-sensitive manner and determine whether to indicate the reports or referrals as unfounded and/or to accept a family for services designed to prevent abuse. The purpose of the Ongoing Caseworker is to coordinate and continually assess services designed to maintain children in their natural home or reunify them to their natural home and concurrently plan for permanent alternatives in the event the natural home environment is unable to provide adequate or safe care necessary for the child's welfare.

The holder of either position will work cooperatively in a team environment with other Caseworkers, Clerks, Aides, and Supervisors in an attempt to provide the best possible outcomes for children and families across the County.
