WHAT WE DO:
Calidi Biotherapeutics is a clinical-stage immuno-oncology company with proprietary technology that is revolutionizing the utilization of oncolytic viruses through an allogeneic cell-based delivery system. Calidi Biotherapeutics is advancing this potent stem cell and oncolytic virus combination for use in multiple difficult-to-treat oncology indications. Our team is also developing a universal cell delivery system to protect, amplify and potentiate oncolytic viruses currently in development.
GENERAL PURPOSE OF JOB
Performs research and/or development in collaboration with others for projects. Makes detailed observations, analyzes data and interprets results. Research involves the use of oncolytic viruses, tumor biopsies, murine and human cell lines, experimental cancer model tissues, and blood from cancer patients and healthy donors.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Performs in vivo studies to evaluate efficacy in murine models
Administers test substances by various routes (i.e., intratumoral, IP, IV, SC, PO, topical, etc.)
Performs mouse necropsies, tissue harvest, and mouse blood collection via cardiac puncture, submandibular, retro orbital etc.
Performs in vivo imaging to monitor tumor growth (IVIS or equivalent)
Manages and observes animals for general health and overall well-being
Adheres to SOPs to ensure study integrity and quality
Performs routine maintenance and propagation of established cell lines
Collaborates with research teams on molecular cloning, qPCR, Flow cytometry, ELISA, IHC
Maintains accurate experiment records in various internal databases and performs basic data analysis
Adheres to good health and safety practices and compliance with applicable EH&S rules and participates in mandatory safety training programs
Independently performs all methods and conduct all study types commonly employed by the team
Other duties as needed
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
B.S. or higher in life science, or related field
3+ years of experience in an animal laboratory setting
Current knowledge of pre‑clinical tumor models, animal handling and dosing
Strong hands‑on experience with animal handling, dosing (Intratumoral, IP, IV, PO, and SC), bleeding, necropsy and tissue harvest
Experience in cell culture, immuno‑oncology, TILS isolation, and flow cytometry is a plus
Good organizational and documentation skills
Dedication to working in a team‑oriented environment to contribute to shared projects
Strong work ethic, self‑motivation, and ability to multi‑task in a fast‑paced work environment
Excellent communication skills with ability to effectively communicate with other research teams
Strong knowledge of MS Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, Excel
Perform other duties as directed by management
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as calculation of dilutions and statistical analyses
Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Excellent communication skills with ability to effectively communicate with other research teams
Ability to read and understand technical procedures
Ability to write protocols and reports
Ability to effectively present data and respond to questions from co‑workers
