Lab Assistant I
This is a non-degreed position. Candidates that have completed any degree higher than a bachelor's cannot be considered.
A Lab Assistant will be working in a high-volume production-based environment performing a vital component of clinical lab science.
Responsibilities:
Receive and sort clinical lab specimens.
Prepare specimens for testing and analysis.
Scan and/or data entry of specimen and patient information.
Ensure all lab equipment is working properly and perform minor instrumentation maintenance.
Troubleshoot any specimen-related issues.
Replenish test bench supplies as needed.
Maintain a clean and safe work environment.
Complete record logs and other administrative duties as requested.
Follow all Standard Operating Procedures to ensure safety and quality standards.
Essential Skills:
High school diploma or equivalent.
Previous medical/lab or production experience is preferred.
Comfortability with handling biological specimens.
Ability to accurately identify specimens.
Basic computer knowledge and data entry skills.
High level of attention to detail with the ability to prioritize and multitask.
Ability to work in a fast-paced production environment and meet established turn-around times.
Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
Ability to sit and/or stand for extended periods of time.
Must pass a standardized color blindness test.
Flexibility to work overtime as needed.
Additional Skills & Qualifications:
Comfort working with biological specimens while strictly following SOPs and safety protocols.
Maintaining a clean, safe workspace and preventing contamination.
Accuracy and speed with systems used in clinical labs.
Clear written and verbal communication to troubleshoot specimen issues and collaborate with lab staff.
Reporting issues promptly and following instructions precisely.
Work Environment:
The role emphasizes production-based work with turnaround times. Being able to multitask, prioritize, and stay focused under pressure is essential. The work environment involves handling biological specimens and requires strict adherence to safety protocols. The position may require sitting or standing for extended periods, and there is an expectation for flexibility in working overtime as needed.

Pay and Benefits:
The pay range for this position is $20.90 - $20.90/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
