Access Clerk - Patient Services Coordinator
Join a dedicated healthcare team as a Patient Services Coordinator, where you will play a vital role in admitting, pre-admitting, and transferring patients within a busy emergency department setting. This position requires a warm, customer-focused approach to ensure every patient, from newborns to seniors, receives respectful and efficient service.
Essential Functions
Gather all necessary demographic and insurance information to admit or pre-admit patients, ensuring compliance with state and federal regulations while maintaining a high accuracy rate.
Notify financial counselors about private pay or uncertain insurance cases.
Distribute admission paperwork promptly to relevant departments and staff.
Assist with patient transport as needed.
Adhere strictly to privacy and security regulations concerning Protected Health Information (PHI).
Collect co-pays, co-insurance, and deductibles according to insurance contracts and eligibility verification.
Process patient payments and complete daily deposits.
Education and Experience
No formal education is required; however, familiarity with medical terminology and prior clerical or computer experience is preferred.
Skills and Requirements
Basic clerical, computer, and keyboarding skills.
Strong communication abilities to interact effectively with patients and staff.
