This role is essential in managing patient admissions, pre-admissions, status updates, and transfers within a healthcare facility. The ideal candidate will actively engage in delivering exceptional customer service and foster respectful relationships with all patients and staff.
Work Schedule: Evening and overnight shifts including Thursday, Saturday, Sunday from 7 PM to 7 AM, and early morning hours on Monday from 3 AM to 7 AM.
Essential Functions
Collects all necessary demographic and insurance information to admit or pre-admit patients, ensuring compliance with state and federal regulations while maintaining a high accuracy rate.
Notifies financial counselors regarding patients with private pay or uncertain insurance coverage.
Distributes admission paperwork promptly to relevant departments and personnel.
Assists with patient transport as needed, serving a diverse patient population from newborns to the elderly.
Adheres strictly to privacy and security regulations concerning Protected Health Information (PHI).
Collects co-pays, coinsurance, and deductibles according to insurance eligibility and contracts, processes patient payments, and completes daily deposits.
Minimum Knowledge and Skills
Basic clerical, computer, and keyboarding skills.
Effective communication abilities.
Preferred Knowledge and Skills
Familiarity with medical terminology.
Previous clerical and computer experience.
