Overview

Ready to Succeed (RTS) empowers foster youth college students to graduate, launch and accelerate their careers, and reach their full potential. RTS Scholars receive a combination of personalized college and career coaching, connections to industry professionals, placements in paid internships, and access to financial and mental health resources. The role reports to the Senior Program Director and will own the strategy, systems, and partnerships that support scholar wellbeing across the organization, ensuring RTS has strong protocols, resources, and partnerships in place to effectively respond to scholar needs. The role will design and implement programming that fosters community building, wellbeing, and connection among scholars and alumni, and will lead holistic scholar support efforts, providing trauma-informed guidance, crisis navigation, and resource coordination for scholars and alumni. This individual will serve as the primary point of contact for scholars experiencing personal, financial, housing, or mental health challenges, ensuring they receive appropriate support, resources, and financial assistance when needed. The role requires strong professional judgment, emotional intelligence, and experience supporting individuals through complex or high-stress life circumstances.
What You’ll Be Up To Day-to-Day

Scholar Wellness Strategy & Development: Own and evolve RTS’s scholar wellness strategy, develop and implement organizational protocols for crisis response and scholar support, analyze trends in scholar challenges and requests to identify gaps and solutions, and implement preventative initiatives to reduce crises and strengthen wellbeing.
Scholar Support & Advising: Serve as the primary point of contact for scholars and alumni navigating complex life challenges, provide trauma-informed counseling support, conduct needs assessments and determine interventions, referrals, and support pathways, triage urgent situations, and maintain boundaries with connected services when interventions are required. Maintain accurate, confidential documentation of scholar interactions, referrals, and financial support decisions in Salesforce.
Resource Navigation & Partnership Management: Manage RTS’s network of campus and community resources, oversee partnerships with external support organizations, monitor utilization and impact of services, and identify new partnerships to expand access to mental health, housing, financial, and wellness resources. Maintain a centralized hub of non-career resources for scholars and staff.
Emergency Assistance & Financial Support: Assess eligibility and facilitate access to emergency financial assistance for scholars, submit requests for internal approval and disbursement, and monitor trends to recommend programmatic solutions.
Staff Guidance & Organizational Collaboration: Advise scholar-facing staff on complex situations, organize training on crisis response and trauma-informed practices, support fundraising by sourcing stories for grants, and participate in team meetings to address barriers to success with strategic input.
What Makes You a Great Fit

Master of Social Work (MSW) strongly preferred; other related advanced degrees will be considered. Bachelor’s degree required; fields such as Social Work, Psychology, Counseling, Sociology, Higher Education, or related areas preferred.
5–7 years of professional experience in counseling, crisis intervention, or direct support roles in environments such as college counseling centers, student services, social service agencies, foster youth programs, or community organizations serving historically under-resourced populations.
Experience supporting first-generation college students, foster youth, or historically under-resourced young adults.
Strong understanding of trauma-informed practices, crisis response, and professional boundaries.
Experience with emergency financial assistance or scholarship disbursement processes preferred.
Experience with database management; Salesforce preferred.
Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to adapt style for different audiences.
Ability to manage emotionally complex situations with organization and follow-through.
Comfort working in a fast-paced environment with urgent needs and long-term planning.
High level of discretion, professionalism, and attention to detail; demonstrated initiative and sound judgment; ability to work independently and collaboratively.
A deep commitment to supporting young people in achieving stability, connection, and long-term success; team-oriented leadership and a desire to help others excel; commitment to positive societal impact.
Ability to work well in a remote environment, with the capacity to attend in-person events and requirements.
What Your Workweek Might Look Like

This is a full-time role, typically Monday–Friday for 40 hours per week. The schedule generally falls between 9:00 am and 5:30 pm. The office is located in the Arts District in Los Angeles, CA. Occasionally, early morning, evening, or weekend availability is required to support scholar programming and events. At times, more than 40 hours per week may be needed to support priority work. The role follows a hybrid work structure with at least one in-person presence per month to support programming, collaboration, and community engagement. Candidates must be based in or willing to relocate to the Los Angeles area. Onboarding is conducted in person.

Compensation and benefits include the following:
Cell phone stipend of $650 per year; 401(k) with up to 4% employer match; Health reimbursement benefit of $6,350/year (adjusted annually).
Vacation: 15 days to start, increasing to 25 with tenure; 3 recharge weeks per year around July 4th and end of year; 11 federal holidays plus a birthday off (or a personal day).
Health insurance premiums and out-of-pocket expenses covered through a reimbursement model (QSEHRA).

The Pay Range For This Role Is 75,000 - 95,000 USD per year (Los Angeles).
