With grant funds from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), DOHMH is undertaking a new initiative that will meet critical infrastructure needs and make possible strategic investments that will have lasting effects on public health. Investments and improvements through this initiative will help modernize DOHMH’s foundational capabilities and data infrastructure, enabling it to partner in complex health and health care environments and, in turn, support better public health outcomes. This initiative supports larger efforts to rebalance investments in public health and more equitably serve communities and populations.

The selected candidate will be an employee of Public Health Solutions, a nonprofit organization which is the fiscal and administrative manager of the grant but will work for and be supervised by DOHMH. This is a grant-funded position ending in November 2027.

Program Description
DOHMH’s Office of Emergency Preparedness and Response (OEPR) was created to promote DOHMH’s and NYC’s ability to prevent, prepare for, respond to, and recover from health emergencies. The OEPR is responsible for coordinating agency-wide emergency preparedness planning, exercises and training, evaluation of incident response, and exercise performance as well as coordinating with community stakeholders, city, state, and federal partners on public health emergency planning and response. The OEPR also works with healthcare partners to optimize the provision of health services during a large-scale disaster.

The Bureau of Emergency Field Operations (BEFO) is responsible for the planning, exercise, training, logistics, operations, and staffing of Citywide public health emergency plans and field operations including large scale, post-disaster Canvassing Operations, mass radiation screening operations in Community Reception Centers, and antibiotic or vaccine Points of Dispensing (PODs) for large-scale medication distribution.

Citywide Emergency Response Staffing Coordinator . Reporting to the Special Projects Manager, this position supports and coordinates activities related to Citywide Emergency Response Staffing, including ensuring effective communication, meeting documentation, and project coordination.

Duties

Support and maintain systems to track goals and objectives related to Citywide Emergency Response Staffing

Coordinate, participate in, and maintain documentation of internal and external Citywide Emergency Response Staffing meetings and monitor and track completion of tasks and deliverables

Oversee the coordination and maintenance of communications related to Citywide Emergency Response Staffing efforts and manage workflows to support consistent responses to inquiries

Devise and implement efforts to streamline the administrative aspects of the Bureau related to Citywide Emergency Response Staffing

Qualifications

A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college and two (2) years of satisfactory full-time professional experience in one of the areas described in one or a combination of the following areas: emergency preparedness planning/management, emergency medical services, fire or public safety, law enforcement, homeland security, public health, mental health, environmental/occupational health and safety or a related specialized area

Fluency in SharePoint, Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint

Pro‑active and self‑motivated individual with the ability to work in teams and in a highly dynamic environment with multiple stakeholders and timelines

Additional Information

This is a temporary grant‑funded position ending in November 2027.

This individual must reside in the tri‑state area (NY, NJ, CT) by their confirmed start date.

Preference may be given to individuals residing in New York City (5 boroughs) or surrounding New York State counties.

This individual will be expected to work non‑business hours during emergencies.
