
Military and Travel Pay Specialist

Overview
Kearney & Company is seeking a Military and Travel Pay Specialist to join our growing team. The Specialist will be responsible for ensuring accurate and timely payment of military salaries, allowances, and travel reimbursements. This includes reviewing financial documents, applying regulations, and supporting service members with pay-related issues.
Responsibilities
Process active duty, reserve, and retired pay transactions
Calculate entitlements (basic pay, housing allowance, special pay, etc.)
Handle pay adjustments, debts, and overpayments
Ensure compliance with military pay regulations (e.g., DFAS policies)
Review and process travel vouchers and reimbursement claims
Verify travel orders and receipts
Calculate per diem, mileage, and lodging reimbursements
Assist service members and employees with pay inquiries
Explain pay policies and procedures
Provide guidance on submitting proper documentation
Qualifications
BS/BA/BBA degree from an accredited college/university in a STEM discipline
Minimum of 2 years of DOD finance experience
Active Secret Clearance (requires U.S. citizenship)
Preferred Qualifications
Knowledge of financial systems and spreadsheets
Understanding of government or military pay systems
Good communication and customer service skills
Comprehensive knowledge of tools and systems:
Defense Finance and Accounting Service (DFAS) Systems
Defense Travel System (DTS)
Microsoft Excel and financial software
The expected salary range for this position is between $60,000 and $100,000. This range is representative of base pay only and does not include straight time pay for hours worked over 40 per week, company contributions towards paid benefits, and/or bonuses. Actual compensation will be determined based on specific experience, education, work location, clearance level, and other factors permitted by law. This position is eligible for bonuses where applicable.
