Summary

The Lead Infant Teacher plays a critical role in laying this foundation by creating a safe, loving, and developmentally appropriate environment for infants (6 weeks to 12 months).
This position requires a responsive caregiver who implements research-based practices aligned with the Frog Street Infant Curriculum while meeting the rigorous standards of Texas Rising Star (TRS), NAEYC (National Association for the Education of Young Children), and Cognia accreditation expectations.
Duties
Create a nurturing, responsive, and relationship-based environment that supports each infant’s individual needs and development
Implement the Frog Street Infant Curriculum with fidelity, including intentional activities that promote early language, sensory exploration, and motor development
Follow individualized care plans for feeding, sleeping, and diapering while maintaining continuity of care practices
Maintain active supervision and ensure full compliance with DFPS Minimum Standards, Texas Rising Star, NAEYC, and Cognia quality expectations
Build strong partnerships with families through daily communication, including infant reports, developmental updates, and conferences
Observe, assess, and document children’s developmental progress using developmentally appropriate tools aligned with program standards
Maintain a clean, organized, and engaging classroom environment that reflects a high-quality infant setting
Lead, coach, and support assistant teachers to ensure consistency in care and instructional quality
Model professionalism and contribute to a positive, team-oriented culture
Participate in ongoing professional development and continuous quality improvement efforts
Requirements
Child Development Associate (CDA) credential or higher preferred
Candidates without a CDA must be willing to obtain one within 6 months of employment
Previous experience working with infants in a licensed childcare setting preferred
Strong understanding of infant development and caregiving best practices
CPR and First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain upon hire)
Ability to lift up to 40 pounds and engage in active caregiving tasks
Nurturing, patient, and attentive demeanor
Strong communication and teamwork skills
Ability to multitask and maintain a calm, organized environment
Commitment to high-quality early childhood education
Fast-paced childcare setting with frequent interaction with children, families, and staff
Requires sitting on the floor, bending, lifting, and active engagement throughout the day
