About the Role
As the
Accounting & Client Service Manager , you will work closely with senior leadership in the overall management of an assigned client base. You’ll oversee projects and workflows, lead and develop staff, and ensure high‑quality service delivery across financial, tax, and operational matters. This role blends
technical expertise, leadership, and client service
in a way that is both challenging and highly rewarding.
Key Responsibilities
Collaborate with Directors and senior leadership in the overall management of assigned client relationships
Oversee projects, schedules, and deliverables while supervising client service teams
Serve as a key relationship manager for clients and/or staff, including involvement in meeting preparation, financial reporting, bill payment, investment performance tracking, cash flow monitoring, asset allocation, and money transfers
Review and manage staff work related to tax returns, extensions, tax planning calculations, and write‑up work across all entity types (C & S corporations, partnerships, fiduciaries, nonprofits, and gifts)
Act as a central point of knowledge for assigned clients, developing a deep understanding of family histories, preferences, and comprehensive service needs
Ensure the department maintains strong knowledge of systems, software, processes, and workflows
Evaluate internal controls and recommend or implement process improvements to enhance efficiency and accuracy
Organize, prioritize, and assign work effectively to ensure timely and high‑quality completion
Direct ongoing employee development and support training for new hires
Contribute to leadership development initiatives and the cultivation of future firm leaders
Review basic tax returns prepared by staff prior to final senior‑level review
Prepare and/or review monthly or quarterly client billing
Leadership & Supervisory Responsibilities
Supervise team members including interviewing, hiring, coaching, and performance management
Plan, assign, and direct work while supporting employee growth and accountability
Address and resolve personnel issues in a professional, constructive manner
Ideal Background
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, or MBA with an undergraduate degree in Finance
Prior experience as a staff accountant or in a similar role with progression into review and leadership responsibilities
Experience reviewing tax returns and financial statements prepared by others
CPA license strongly preferred
Technical Skills
Advanced proficiency in
Microsoft Excel
and strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office
Experience with
QuickBooks
and
ProSystem fx Tax
preferred
Ability and interest in learning additional software tools as needed
