Position Summary
The Physician Assistant is a clinical role that provides exceptional medical care to patients by conducting physical examinations, ordering and interpreting diagnostic tests, and developing patient treatment plans under physician supervision. This safety‑sensitive position involves direct patient care, medication administration, and collaboration with other healthcare professionals to support quality care.

Responsibilities

Practice medicine under physician supervision, using sound medical judgment and adhering to ethical standards.

Provide care for patients with acute and chronic illnesses commonly encountered in older adults.

Accountable for patient care and outcomes, seeking specialist consultation when needed while staying involved in detailed patient care.

Engage with hospitalists when patients are hospitalized.

Meet all clinical obligations, including accrediting agency compliance, CLIA, drug prescription compliance, HIPAA, and state and federal regulations.

Assess, diagnose, treat, manage, educate, and coordinate care for patients with complex chronic health needs using evidence‑based medicine.

Follow all internal policies and procedures.

Maintain complete and detailed electronic records of patients’ health plans and prognoses within 48 hours of each visit.

Provide patients with information to promote health and prevent disease.

Analyze and interpret medical histories, symptoms, and diagnostic data to develop appropriate diagnoses and treatment plans, including blood gases, radiology, and EKG.

Maintain patient confidentiality in accordance with policy and HIPAA.

Enact proper chain of command for patient complaints.

Perform additional duties as assigned.

Position Requirements and Skills

Completion of a four‑year Physician Assistant bachelor’s program with a year of clinical training, or

Completion of a two‑year accredited PA program plus two years of clinical training.

State licensure or accreditation as a Physician Assistant.

At least one year of outpatient primary‑care experience.

Experience using an electronic medical records system.

ACLS/BLS certification required.

Demonstrated knowledge of appropriate patient care and ability to handle emergency situations calmly.

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret clinical data and professional literature.

Strong written and verbal communication, teaching, and telephone skills.

Proficiency with Google Suite and Microsoft Office for real‑time collaboration.

Physical Requirements

Full range of motion, including handling and transferring patients and manual dexterity.

Standing, walking, pushing, bending, kneeling, and reaching at arm’s length and overhead in a clinic for prolonged periods.

Ability to lift and move patients and medical equipment as needed, up to 15 lb.

Corrected vision and hearing within normal range.

Ability to sit for extended periods.

Ability to operate a motor vehicle and own means of transportation.
