Role
Registered Nurse – OR Circulator (Cardiac OR)
is responsible for providing perioperative nursing care in a high-acuity Adult Cardiac Operating Room environment. This role requires expertise in circulating complex cardiac procedures including CABG, valve replacements, and heart transplant cases, while ensuring patient safety and collaboration with multidisciplinary surgical teams.
Key Responsibilities
Clinical Care
Function independently as an OR circulator for cardiac procedures
Assist in complex cardiac surgeries (CABG, TAVI, VAD, ECMO, transplant)
Support minimally invasive and structural heart procedures
Patient Care & Safety
Ensure sterile technique and patient safety during procedures
Monitor patient status throughout surgery
Follow infection control and surgical safety protocols
Surgical Specialties Exposure
Coronary artery bypass graft (CABG)
Structural heart procedures (Bentall, valve replacements)
Heart failure procedures (VAD, ECMO, Impella)
Heart transplant surgeries
Team Collaboration
Work closely with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and OR staff
Support multidisciplinary surgical teams
Ensure smooth OR workflow and coordination
Documentation & Compliance
Maintain accurate patient and procedural records
Ensure compliance with hospital and regulatory standards
Follow EMR documentation protocols
Qualifications
Must-Have Qualifications
Active New York RN License (Required)
Minimum 2+ years of RN experience
Experience in Operating Room (OR Circulator role)
Ability to independently circulate complex cases
BLS Certification (AHA – Required)
ACLS Certification (AHA – Required)
Preferred Qualifications
Experience in Cardiac OR
Experience in Level 1 Trauma centers
Experience in heart transplant procedures
