Job Summary
To assist physicians and/or physical therapy staff as directed in the delivery of patient services which may include casting and applying or removing a variety of casts, braces, splints, and dressings or hydrotherapy care. To provide guidance to less experienced staff.

Degree in sports medicine or kinesiology and prior rehab care or clinical work experience
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Knowledge of the principles and procedures for providing customer service. Skill in applying and removing casts, splints, sutures, pins, external fixators, and/or staples. Interpersonal skills. Ability to maintain records, supplies, equipment, and/or instruments. Ability to alleviate patient anxiety. Ability to safely lift and physically manipulate patients.
Responsibilities
Performs a variety of duties in the treatment and care of patients which may include casting, splinting, dressing changes, suturing, wound care, irrigations, and/or therapy care.
Provides age-appropriate care which meets the physical, psychological, and safety needs of the patient. Schedules patients for assigned services and transports patients to and from treatment areas.
Maintains an inventory of supplies for efficient functioning of assigned area.
Checks equipment, sets up applicable instrumentation, sterilizes and cleans instruments and equipment, and prepares work areas.
Applies and removes bandages, casts, and splints; removes sutures, pins, external fixators and staples.
Provides guidance to less experienced staff. Ensures compliance with safety, environmental, and/or infection control standards and practices.

Physical and Environmental Demands
Requires frequent exposure to unpleasant or disagreeable physical environment such as high noise level and exposure to heat and cold, occasional handling or working with potentially dangerous equipment, frequent exposure to biohazardous conditions such as risk of radiation exposure, blood borne pathogens, fumes or airborne particles, and/or toxic or caustic chemicals which mandate attention to safety considerations, occasional activities subject to significant volume changes of a seasonal/clinical nature, frequent work produced subject to precise measures of quantity and quality, constant bending, occasional lifting and carrying up to 50 pounds, constant crouching/stooping, occasional kneeling, occasional pushing/pulling, frequent reaching, frequent sitting, frequent standing, occasional twisting, and frequent walking.
