Description
The ED Tech works as a team member in an assigned area to assist with vital signs, perform EKGs, assist in ADLs, stock supplies, facilitate safe patient handling, reposition and transport patients, provide comfort measures, and support patient care under the supervision of a registered nurse. Additionally, the ED Tech collects and documents patient care data, applies cardiac monitor devices, transports laboratory specimens, assists the nurse and physician with procedures, and performs secretarial duties as needed.
Minimum Qualifications
BART or BLS at time of hire with commitment to obtain BART within six (6) months of hire date.
Minimum six (6) months of experience in an emergency department, pre‑hospital, acute care, or comparable settings.
Demonstrated computer knowledge and skills.
Preferred Qualifications
EMT and/or CNA certification.
Special Conditions
Must be willing to work nights.
Must be able to work in the Emergency Department Inpatient (E.D.I.P.) area of the Emergency Department.
Must be able to work various hours and locations based on business needs.
Must be able to work at both UCSD Hillcrest and La Jolla hospitals; employees will float between the Emergency Department and ED Inpatient (E.D.I.P.) areas.
Employment subject to a criminal background check and pre‑employment physical.
Pay Range
Annual Full Pay Range: $51,114 - $63,559 (will be prorated if appointment percentage is less than 100%). Hourly Equivalent: $24.48 - $30.44.
Misconduct Disclosure Requirement
As a condition of employment, the final candidate who accepts an offer of employment will be required to disclose if they have been subject to any final administrative or judicial decisions within the last seven years determining that they committed any misconduct; or have filed an appeal of a finding of substantiated misconduct with a previous employer.
