Responsibilities
Patient Care

Anticipate and facilitate provider workflow.

Inform and update patients of anticipated wait times.

Assist providers with patient flow time management.

Perform initial intake screening by verifying reason for visit.

Obtain and record patient information.

Obtain vital signs per network policy.

Prepare and maintain examination and treatment areas.

Prepare patient for examinations, procedures, and treatments.

Assist with examinations, procedures, and treatments.

Maintain and update all medication and immunization records.

Review and update health maintenance records.

Complete all forms and data sets for patient care to the maximum scope.

Schedule, coordinate, and monitor appointments.

Complete patient recalls daily.

Operational Functions

Apply principles of aseptic techniques and infection control.

Practice standard precautions, including hand washing and disposal of biohazards.

Comply with quality assurance practices.

Perform inventory of supplies and equipment.

Perform routine maintenance of administrative and clinical equipment.

Apply computer and other electronic equipment techniques to support office operations.

Perform methods of quality control.

Back Office Duties & Facilitation
Maintain a calm demeanor while multitasking across messages, orders, and faxes. Prioritize, organize, and facilitate workflow for providers, ensuring timely completion of tasks.

Manage messaging and order workflow.

Organize and allocate orders in a timely fashion.

Research and respond to messages promptly.

Act as liaison between the PSR, MA, and Provider.

Specialty Clinic Requirements
Minimum 1–2 years of experience in the specialty area related to the position. For OBGYN clinic, a minimum of two years of recent OBGYN (outpatient/medical office) medical assisting experience is required.

Clinical Procedures

Perform venous and capillary blood withdrawal.

Perform intradermal, subcutaneous, and intramuscular injections.

Apply or assist with durable medical equipment.

Administer medications as ordered by the provider and per scope of practice.

Administer immunizations.

Perform tympanograms and ear irrigations (with provider order).

Perform waived laboratory tests.

Provide patient education and instructions.

Qualifications

State-certified Medical Assistant.

1 year of experience preferred.

Good to excellent computer skills.

Effective oral and written communication in English.

Current American Heart Association CPR/BLS for Healthcare Providers required.

Knowledge and comprehension of Medical Assistant scope and role.

Ability to work effectively in a fast‑paced environment, handling multiple tasks simultaneously.

Knowledge of legal and ethical boundaries, documentation standards, and compliance with state, federal, and regulatory agencies.

Professional, neat appearance; respects cultural diversity.

Excellent customer service and patient care skills; friendly, professional interaction with patients and staff.

Strong organizational and electronic health records (EMR) skills.
