
Patient Access Specialist - PRN

Job Responsibilities
Perform admitting duties for all patients admitted to the hospital, ensuring compliance with policies and regulatory requirements.
Assign accurate MRNs, complete medical necessity/compliance checks, provide patient instructions, collect insurance information, receive and process physician orders, and utilize the overlay tool while maintaining high customer‑service standards.
Operate the telephone switchboard for inbound, outbound, and inter‑office calls, adhering to policies and providing compassionate service.
Utilize quality auditing and reporting systems to correct accounts, conduct audits, and furnish statistical data to leadership.
Pre‑register patient accounts prior to visits, including collecting demographic, insurance, financial liability, and payment‑plan information.
Explain general consent for treatment forms to patients or their representatives, obtain signatures, and distribute required educational documents and consent forms.
Review eligibility responses in the insurance verification system, select applicable insurance plan codes, and enter benefit data to support point‑of‑service collections and billing processes.
Screen medical necessity using the ABN software, inform Medicare patients of potential non‑payment, and distribute related documentation.
Experience & Qualifications
1+ years of customer service experience.
Inquisitive, with a willingness to embrace innovation and explore AI‑based process improvements.
Required Education
High School Diploma or GED.
Certification
CRCR required within 6 months of hire (company‑paid).
