
Patient Access Specialist - PRN

Job Summary
Ensemble is a leading provider of technology-enabled revenue cycle management solutions. We are searching for a Patient Access Specialist to conduct admitting duties for all patients admitted for services at Ballad – Sycamore Shoals Hospital in Elizabethton, TN. This onsite role requires working at the hospital and supporting patients through the entire admission process while meeting regulatory compliance standards.
Compensation: $17.00 – $18.15 per hour based on experience. Bonus incentives, paid certifications, tuition reimbursement, comprehensive benefits, and career advancement opportunities are included.
Job Responsibilities
Assign accurate MRNs, complete medical necessity/compliance checks, provide patient instructions, collect insurance information, and process physician orders.
Utilize the overlay tool and telephone switchboard to handle incoming and outgoing calls, providing excellent customer service measured by Press Ganey.
Conduct quality audits and reporting to ensure accounts are correct, including cross‑employee, department, and facility accounts.
Pre‑register patient accounts before visits, gather demographic, insurance, and financial liability information, and collect point‑of‑service collections and past due balances.
Explain consent forms, obtain signatures, and distribute patient education documents (e.g., Medicare, Tricare, Observation Forms).
Review eligibility responses in the insurance verification system, select applicable insurance plan code, and enter benefit data to support POS and billing processes.
Screen medical necessity using ABN software, inform Medicare patients of potential non‑payment, and distribute required forms.

Required Qualifications
High School Diploma or GED.
CRCR certification within 9 months of hire (Company paid).
