A full-time (100% FTE) Nurse Practitioner - COM Intern position is available in the Department of Neurosurgery. This position will pair a post-graduate Nurse Practitioner with our surgical team gaining clinical hours and educational experience in the operating room, inpatient, and ambulatory settings.
Essential Functions
Collaborate with interdisciplinary health care team caring for patients, managing both their acute and chronic health care needs. Demonstrate proficiency in core knowledge inclusive of assessment, treatment, and coordination of patient care. Order and interpret diagnostic and therapeutic tests. Prescribe appropriate pharmacologic and non-pharmacologic treatment modalities. Monitor the effectiveness of interventions. Maintain accurate medical records. Collaborate with other providers and members of the health care team in delivery of care and make appropriate referrals when needed. Educate patients and families about medical conditions and treatment plans. Facilitate staff, patient, and family decision making using evidence-based practice. Participate in research and development projects. Participate in education of nurse practitioners and medical students. Perform related duties based on departmental need.
Minimum Qualifications
A Master\'s degree in Nursing and graduation from an accredited ANA approved Nurse Practitioner Program. National certification by ANCC or AANP. Acute Care certification. Current/Valid APRN license in the state of Ohio.
Required Experience
Three (3) years nursing experience. Additional related work experience may be required depending on specialty/sub-specialty.
