Organizational Unit Overview
The School of Dental Medicine is composed of ten administrative offices and four academic departments. The administrative units include the Offices of the Dean, Vice Dean, Associate Dean for Student Affairs, Associate Dean for Research, Associate Dean for Clinical Affairs, Associate Dean for Extramural Clinical Practices, Assistant Dean for Dental Education and Informatics, Assistant Dean for Educational Support and Faculty Development, Assistant Dean for Academic Success and the Assistant Dean for Business Operations and Financial Affairs. The four academic departments are Surgical Sciences, Pediatric Dentistry, Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopedics, General Dentistry and Foundational Sciences.

Job Duties
The purpose of this position is to provide clinical support to the dentist, dental residents and dental students in the School of Dental Medicine clinics and Community Service Learning Centers. Responsibilities include assisting 4‑handed dentistry, patient preparation and flow, accessing patient information and charts, monitoring patient blood pressure and sedation, participating in dental exams and procedures, following OSHA standards for hand washing, masking, gloving and disposal of contaminants, monitoring patients during treatment, performing dental x‑rays as ordered by the dentist, and transporting patients as needed.
Minimum Education and Experience
High school diploma or equivalency and completion of an accredited dental assisting program; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
License or Certification Required
None.
Preferred Experience, Skills, Training/Education
CPR certificate, Radiology certified.
