Job Description
The Lease Operator is responsible for the daily operation, monitoring, and maintenance of oil and gas production equipment and wells. This role supports field operations by ensuring production efficiency, equipment reliability, and adherence to safety and environmental standards.
The position involves working a structured schedule and requires hands-on fieldwork, troubleshooting, and coordination with operations teams. A company vehicle and tools are provided to support job duties.
Responsibilities
Monitor and maintain daily production operations across assigned wells
Operate and troubleshoot artificial lift systems, including rod pump, plunger lift, and other lift methods
Perform routine inspections of well sites, equipment, and facilities
Record and report production data, pressures, and volumes
Identify and resolve operational issues to minimize downtime
Conduct minor maintenance and coordinate major repairs as needed
Ensure compliance with safety, environmental, and operational procedures
Utilize SCADA systems to monitor and optimize well performance (if applicable)
Communicate effectively with field personnel, supervisors, and support teams
Maintain accurate logs and documentation of field activities
Skills
Strong knowledge of artificial lift systems
Mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting ability
Basic understanding of oil and gas production operations
Familiarity with SCADA systems (preferred)
Ability to work independently and manage time effectively
Strong attention to detail and safety awareness
Good communication and teamwork skills
Ability to work in outdoor environments and varying conditions
Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent required
Prior experience as a lease operator or in oil and gas field operations preferred
Experience working with artificial lift systems required
SCADA experience is a plus
Valid driver's license required
Ability to work an 8/6 schedule with 10-hour days
Must be local to the McAlester, OK area or willing to relocate
Ability to perform physical labor and work in field conditions

Pay: $27-$32/ per hr
