Job Summary
The Building Technician provides on-site technology support to staff and students. This position installs and maintains hardware/software, troubleshoots technical issues, supports daily technology operations, and ensures accurate inventory of technology and equipment.
Key Responsibilities
Technology Support:
Assist staff with audio/visual setup and tear down for presentations and events.
Provide in-person and remote support for staff and students, including device training and workstation troubleshooting.
Support school administrators in finding solutions to technology limitations.
Installation & Maintenance:
Install and configure computers, peripherals, and software in classrooms, libraries, labs, and other learning spaces.
Maintain accurate records of maintenance, repairs, and purchases.
Track and manage inventory of computers, audio-visual equipment, and other technology assets.
Troubleshooting & Repairs:
Perform basic network troubleshooting (e.g., wireless, switches, audio/visual systems).
Repair or coordinate repairs for projectors, cameras, smart boards, and other electronic equipment.
Respond to technology-related inquiries from staff, parents, and students.
Collaboration & Communication:
Attend school and departmental meetings to share and gather technology-related information.
Create user guides, status reports, and reference materials to support technology use.
Perform additional tasks as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
Education:
High school diploma or equivalent required.
Additional training or certification in information technology, networking, or related fields preferred.
Experience:
Prior job-related experience required.
Skills:
Proficiency with diagnostic and application software.
Ability to maintain accurate records and follow safety practices.
Knowledge:
Electronics, multi-platform operating systems, system security, and troubleshooting methodologies.
Abilities:
Adapt to changing priorities and solve problems effectively.
Work collaboratively with diverse groups and maintain strong professional relationships.
Manage time effectively under deadlines and demonstrate mechanical aptitude and attention to detail.
