Flour Bakery + Cafe
is looking for exceptional counter staff/baristas for full and part-time positions!
The FOH counter staff position duties include greeting and assisting guests, assembling pastry orders, preparing coffee and espresso drinks, performing cleaning tasks, taking catering orders, delivering food to tables, and potentially helping prepare sandwiches, among other responsibilities - all while displaying an exceptional sense of hospitality to our guests.
This position requires Saturday and Sunday availability, with closing availability preferred
Day-to-day Performance Expectations:
Must be able to deliver consistently great hospitality:
Engage our guests at Flour by greeting them with a smile, treating them with kindness, directing them through the ordering process, and finding the correct answers to any questions they may have.
Applicants must be enthusiastic, hard-working, possess strong guest service skills, be eager to learn, and be able to work in a professional kitchen environment.
We are seeking self-motivated employees who thrive in a fun, positive, fast-paced team environment with opportunities for advancement.
Previous bakery/cafe counter staff, barista, other restaurant front of house, or prep cook experience is helpful, but not mandatory.
Skills for Qualification:
Must have scheduling availability to work at least 3 shifts/20 hours per week and at least one weekend shift
Ability to operate equipment such as a cash register, coffee and espresso machinery, grinders, etc.
Must be able to maintain grooming and uniform standards
Excellent sense of urgency and hospitality
Ability to recognize when and where help is needed
Ability to take feedback and direction
Willingness to work in a team and help all other departments, as needed
Physical Requirements:
Be prepared to be on your feet all day. This is a physically active role.
Ability to stand for long periods, walk, push, pull, reach, and lift
Ability to operate equipment such as a manual espresso machine and cash register
Work Environment:
Must be able to work in an environment with loud noises, machinery, and at times, tight spaces.
Must be able to work around various aromas and fluctuating temperatures
We do our best not to cross-contaminate anything containing gluten. However, there may be gluten in the air at times. We do our best to accommodate any staff allergy requests.
We ask for a minimum commitment of six months for FOH employees. Unfortunately, we do not offer seasonal or temporary work
Compensation:
This position has an average starting compensation of $20-$24 per hour (base wage of $15 + $5-9 per hour in pooled tips). The starting pay rate for this position is $15, but the total pay range is $15-$19.32.
