The New York Wastewater Operator is a mobile wastewater operating position serving the New York service area. In this position, you will monitor and adjust the various treatment processes to ensure compliance with all permits and regulatory agencies. The mobile wastewater operator collects and records data and wastewater samples from their assigned facilities. The operator performs preventative maintenance on equipment as per the operations and maintenance manuals for the contracted facilities. The mobile wastewater operator is an independent and well-organized self-starter who can manage his or her schedule to complete assigned site coverage requirements as noted below.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Perform critical testing of facility operations, such as PH, dissolved oxygen, chlorine, etc., in order to monitor system condition
Complete Discharge Monitoring Reports as required by facilities permits
Perform general preventative maintenance on treatment plant equipment such as blower oil, filter and belt changes and pulling and inspecting submersible pumps, etc.
Maintain complete, accurate, legible records of all phases of facility operations
Maintain complete, accurate, legible records of all equipment and plant maintenance
Assist to prepare monthly written operating report based on facility's operation and/or maintenance records for the client, employer or regulatory agency as required
Inform Supervisor in a timely manner of plant problems, upsets, plant expansion, repairs, etc.
Work conscientiously, adhere to EH&S policies and processes, and be aware of and report safety hazards
Be prepared to discuss in a professional manner the plant operations with employer, client, visitors or regulatory personnel
Collect required samples, log in samples correctly and accurately, and submit samples to laboratory and review results to ensure permit compliance
Operate plants to meet all regulatory guidelines and responsibilities
Assist maintenance personnel with pump, blower, motor, valve, etc. removal
Maintain accurate records for gasoline, mileage, timesheets, expenses, etc.
Work scheduled weekends and occasional holidays for assigned route
Project a positive image to operators, clients, regulatory agencies, engineers, etc.
Confined Space Entry
this may be required on occasion after thorough training provided by NSU
Performs other related duties as assigned by management
Qualifications:
Must be 21 years of age or older
High school diploma or general education degree (GED), or one to three months related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
1 year of wastewater experience, preferred but, not required
Required to be part of a 24 hour on call rotation
Must be available to work weekends and holidays as requested
Overtime as required
Available for emergency situations
Available for a 24 hour on call rotation
Certificates, licenses, and registrations:
Valid Driver's License
New York Wastewater license required or obtained while working
New York Water license a plus
Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook experience preferred

Pay range: $23.00$38.50 per hour, based on wastewater licensure and relevant experience.
