Job Responsibilities (Generalized)
Conduct comprehensivepatient assessments to diagnose and treat a variety of medical conditions
Develop and implementindividualized treatment plans
Order and interpretdiagnostic tests
Prescribe medicationsand manage chronic conditions
Provide patienteducation and counseling on healthy lifestyle choices.
Perform procedures aspermitted by state regulations and APP specialty
Collaborate withphysicians and other healthcare providers to ensure coordinated care
Document patient careaccurately and thoroughly
Skills
Strong clinicalknowledge and assessment skills
Excellent communicationand interpersonal skills to build rapport with patients
Proficiency inperforming physical examinations and procedures relevant totheir specialty
Critical thinking andproblem-solving skills to diagnose and manage complex medical conditions
Time management skillsto efficiently manage a patient workload
Ability to workindependently while also collaborating effectively with ahealthcare team
Education
Master of Science inNursing (MSN) degree focused on an NP specialty (e.g., familypractice, adult-gerontology, pediatrics)
Master of Science inPhysician Assistant Studies (MPAS) degree from an accreditedprogram
Licenses & Certifications
Willing to await licensure
National certificationas an NP in a relevant specialty area by a recognized certifyingbody (e.g., American Academy of Nurse Practitioners[AANP])
National certificationfrom the National Commission on Certification of PhysicianAssistants (NCCPA)
Experience
While specificrequirements may vary, most locum APP positions prefercandidates with at least one year of experience in a clinicalsetting relevant to their specialty
Travel
