Mechanical Assembler | 2nd Shift | $18-$25/hr | N. Canton, OH

This role focuses on the mechanical assembly of custom fluid handling machinery, including equipment that sprays liquid rubber and systems that mix and spray fiberglass for products such as canoes, coolers, and automobiles. You will work in a clean, organized, climate-controlled job shop environment, using blueprints and schematics, hand and power tools, and material handling equipment to build high-quality machines to specification.
Responsibilities

Perform mechanical assembly of custom fluid handling equipment, including pumps, air manifolds, and full machines used for spraying liquid rubber and mixing and spraying fiberglass.
Read and interpret blueprints and schematics to complete assemblies accurately and according to specifications.
Use a variety of hand and power tools safely and effectively during daily assembly tasks.
Operate a forklift on a daily basis to move parts, components, and assemblies as needed.
Use an overhead crane to lift and move heavy parts and assemblies safely.
Follow work orders and assembly instructions to complete assigned jobs within the production cell.
Enter work information into the computer system and print drawings and work orders as required.
Inspect work for quality and accuracy, ensuring all assemblies meet established standards.
Maintain an organized, clean, and safe work area within the assembly cell.
Communicate effectively with team members and other departments to coordinate work and resolve issues.
Stand for the majority of the shift and perform bending and occasional sitting as needed to complete assembly tasks.
Adhere to all safety procedures and guidelines when using tools, equipment, forklifts, and overhead cranes.
Essential Skills

13 years of experience in mechanical assembly, installations, repairs, or troubleshooting.
Ability to read and interpret blueprints and schematics for mechanical assemblies.
Proficiency using hand and power tools in a manufacturing or mechanical environment.
Basic computer skills to enter work orders and print drawings and related documentation.
Ability to lift up to 50 pounds on a regular basis.
Capability to operate a forklift safely on a daily basis.
Ability to use an overhead crane to move heavy parts safely.
Strong attention to detail and organizational skills to ensure high-quality work.
Effective verbal communication skills to work collaboratively with team members.
Comfort with standing for an entire shift and performing bending and limited sitting as required by the job.
Additional Skills & Qualifications

Experience assembling custom machinery, pumps, air manifolds, or fluid handling equipment.
Working in a job shop or cell-based manufacturing environment.
Familiarity with pneumatic and hydraulic components and systems.
Demonstrated focus on producing high-quality, precise mechanical assemblies.
Ability to follow detailed work orders and production schedules.
Strong commitment to safety and adherence to established procedures.

Work Environment

The position is based in a clean, well-organized job shop environment that is very clean, well lit, and temperature controlled. You will work in an assembly cell equipped with blueprints, work orders, and a full range of hand and power tools to build custom fluid handling equipment. The facility includes a nice cafeteria and study areas with vending, and food trucks and holiday events contribute to a welcoming atmosphere. The role is structured as a contract-to-hire position. The primary schedule is 1st shift, typically 7:00 a.m. to 3:00/3:30 p.m., with limited overtime while on contract. The work involves standing for most of the shift, with some bending and occasional sitting, in a professional, safety-conscious, and team-oriented setting.
Job Type & Location: This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Canton, OH.
Pay and Benefits: The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $25.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
