Mechanical Assembler

Minnesota Jobs, Minneapolis, MN, United States

Assembler

The Assembler will build high-quality lawn care equipment from start to finish, completing full mechanical assemblies rather than working on a traditional assembly line. This role involves using a variety of hand and power tools to assemble aerators, blowers, and other specialty lawn care products by following blueprints and schematics. The position is ideal for someone who enjoys hands-on mechanical work, takes pride in craftsmanship, and can work both independently and as part of a small team.
M - Th 6am - 4:30pm $22.50
Responsibilities

Perform complete mechanical assembly of lawn care equipment, including aerators and blowers, from start to finish.
Use hand and power tools such as power drills, torque wrenches, pneumatic tools, and basic hand tools to assemble components safely and accurately.
Read and interpret blueprints and schematics to ensure correct assembly of all parts and subassemblies.
Build subassemblies independently or participate in full assemblies as part of a two-person or small team.
Meet production expectations, which may range from assembling multiple units per day to completing a single complex unit over several days, depending on the product line.
Essential Skills

At least 6 months of experience using hand and power tools in a work or hands-on environment.
A minimum of 1 year of hands-on mechanical assembly experience.
Ability to read and interpret blueprints or assembly instructions, comparable to independently assembling items such as bicycles or furniture.
Strong mechanical aptitude and comfort working with mechanical components and fasteners.
Consistently excellent attendance, with no more than one day missed per month.
Ability to work both independently and with a partner to complete assemblies.
Positive attitude, strong work ethic, and willingness to learn and follow direction.
Additional Skills & Qualifications

Experience working on personal vehicles or in automotive-related roles such as lube or auto technician, either as work experience or a hobby.
Familiarity with torque wrenches, pneumatic tools, and other mechanical assembly tools.
Comfort working in a production or manufacturing environment with varying production volumes.
Ability to manage time effectively to meet production goals while maintaining quality.
Work Environment

This position is based in a fairly laid-back, medium-sized, climate-controlled shop that is not excessively noisy. The workspace is full of product and equipment, yet arranged so that employees have sufficient room to work comfortably. Assemblers may work alone, with a partner, or with a small group depending on the product, and will have a dedicated trainer during the training period. The role focuses on building blower units with two other team members, using hand tools, power drills, torque wrenches, pneumatic tools, and other mechanical equipment. The standard schedule is a first-shift, four-day workweek from Monday through Thursday, 6:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Work on Fridays is typically optional, with very rare mandatory overtime, and those days are usually partial shifts ending around mid-day. The culture is generally mellow, with a supervisor who maintains a calm environment and leadership that expects employees to stay engaged and off personal cell phones while on the floor.
