Job Description
Receives and dates incoming purchase orders; Handles follow-ups and expediting of purchase orders; Contacts vendors for firm delivery information; Investigates supply, goods, and equipment complaints and contacts the vendors to secure any adjustments and returns; Handles phone calls and visits from vendors regarding clarification of orders, shipments, or changes in orders; Secures price quotations; Notifies requestor of any changes in the purchase order; Processes receiving information on supplies and equipment purchased for the district, and checks for accuracy in quantities and description; Finalizes purchase order transactions and approves them for payment; Initiates correspondence pertaining to inquiries on purchase orders; Works closely with personnel regarding equipment inventory tagging; Follows up on delivery and payment authorization; Maintains files of firms and commodities handled and of catalogs and pamphlets on supplies and equipment; May be involved with some items requiring routine bidding procedures; Inputs purchase requisitions and places orders for routine purchases; Assists in gathering original signature receipt/verification of deliveries to sites.
Minimum Entrance Qualifications
High School diploma or equivalent; AND two (2) years of increasingly responsible clerical, accounting and/or recordkeeping experience, including one year in school business purchasing or warehousing activities is desirable. Valid California Class C Driver's License

Knowledge of: Purchasing policies and procedures; Types of supplies, materials and equipment commonly used; Filing systems and general office practices. Keyboard skills and computer software. Ability to: Make mathematical calculations with speed and accuracy; Understand and apply Education Code laws regarding purchasing; Prepare and maintain accurate and complete records of reports; Maintain complex financial records; Operate office equipment including a computer and related software; Establish and maintain effective working relationships with those contacted during the course of work.

Employee contribution amount towards a premium varies based on medical plan. Family coverage is also available with an additional employee monthly paid premium. NOTE: Employees with assignments fewer than 27.5 hours per week are eligible to participate / buy-in into medical plans at full cost. DENTAL INSURANCE: Employees holding regular/permanent positions at 30.0 or more hours per week shall be eligible to participate in the District-paid coverage for family dental insurance.
