Staff Auditor

The Staff Auditor is responsible for supporting the internal audit function by performing audit testing, evaluating internal controls, and assessing compliance with bank regulations, internal policies, and procedures. This role helps to ensure the organizational operations are effective, adhere to policies and procedures, and comply with regulatory requirements.
Essential Duties And Responsibilities

Conducts internal audits of financial, operational, and FDICIA controls across various business units including but not limited to the following:
Perform walkthroughs, document processes, and identify key controls.
Execute audit procedures designed to assess the adequacy and effectiveness of controls.
Prepare clear, well-organized audit workpapers that support audit conclusions.
Analyze audit findings for the root cause and ensure the corrective action is appropriate.
Summarize audit findings and draft audit reports.
Communicate observations to audit management and business unit personnel.
Maintain symbiotic relationship with the Chief Accounting Officer (CAO) over FDICIA controls, including:
Performing FDICIA testing for all entities.
Coordinating control revisions, additions, and eliminations with the CAO.
Ensure controls are reasonable and auditable.
Maintain control testing records, including testing completed, passed, failed and in process.
Maintain and organize the testing documentation for all samples.
Prepare annual results reporting for management and the Audit-Risk Committee.
Conduct or assist in special audits, as necessary, at the direction of the Director of Audit.
Provide support to internal and external audit firms as needed, including:
Assisting with scheduling meetings with management for kickoff and/or exit meetings.
Coordinating request lists and uploading audit documentation.
Assist with communicating observations and findings to management and business unit personnel.
Assist with maintaining the Audit Procedures.
Assist in the management of audit findings including, but not limited to the following:
Ensuring that findings and recommendations are designed to improve internal controls, risk management, and ensure regulatory compliance.
Ensuring that third-party internal auditors communicate all findings with management and prepare comprehensive written audit reports. Also ensure the appropriateness and effectiveness of Management's response to all audit findings.
Audit remediation validation:
Perform periodic testing of high-risk and/or repeat audit findings to ensure remediation efforts are sustained.
Review remediation plans and validate sustainability of results for moderate, low, and best practice recommendations.
Collaborate with the Director of Audit to enhance audit methodologies and processes.
Pursue professional development and remain informed on auditing, accounting, regulatory developments, emerging risks, and change in banking regulations through self-directed study and attendance at meetings, courses, and seminars.
Adhere to the Bank's privacy and data security policies including, but not limited to, safeguarding of sensitive information and complying with relevant regulations to protect non-public information.
Complete all internal Bank training as assigned and required.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
Complete all internal Company training as assigned and required.

Qualifications

Education and/or Experience

Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, business, or comparable work experience in a related field.
2-4 years audit, FDICIA, and/or banking experience preferred.
Skills

Ability to comprehend fundamental audit and FDICIA concepts (e.g., operational, credit, compliance, and internal control risks).
Basic knowledge of the banking and financial services industry including federal laws and regulations
Willingness to gain new knowledge and technical skills.
Intermediate typing skills to meet the production needs of the position.
Intermediate math skills: the ability to calculate interest, commissions, proportions, and percentages; balance accounts; add, subtract, multiply, and divide into all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals; locate routine mathematical errors; compute rate, ratio, and percent, including the drafting and interpretation of bar graphs.
Exceptional verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills with the ability to apply common sense to carry out instructions and instruct others, train personnel, read, analyze, and interpret documents and professional journals, understand procedures, write reports, correspondence, and procedures, speak clearly to customers and employees.

Pay Range Disclosure

The pay range for this position is $64,781.70 to $83,534.29 per year and is the lowest to highest salary Charlesbridge in good faith believe we would pay for this role at the time of this posting. The Company may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range, and the range may be modified in the future. An employee's pay position within the salary range will be based on several factors including, but not limited to, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, sales or revenue-based metrics, and business or organizational needs and affordability.
