Staff Accountant
Overview
The Staff Accountant role is a hands-on accounting position well suited for someone who enjoys owning processes, collaborating across teams, and contributing to accurate, timely financial operations. This position blends full‑cycle accounts payable, month‑end close responsibilities, and corporate credit card management in a collaborative, approachable environment.
Key Responsibilities
As a Staff Accountant, you will split your time across three core functional areas:
Accounts Payable
- Manage full‑cycle accounts payable
- Process invoices in QuickBooks, coding to inventory or appropriate expense accounts
- Interpret purchase order references and research inventory-related invoices when systems do not directly connect
- Communicate proactively with internal partners to resolve coding questions and ensure accuracy
Month-End Close
- Participate in a structured two‑week month‑end close
- Prepare and post journal entries, including accruals and prepaid expenses
- Complete bank and balance sheet account reconciliations
- Perform credit card reconciliations
- Assist with payroll accruals
Corporate Credit Card Administration
- Oversee credit card reconciliations and expense reporting
- Review submitted receipts and documentation for compliance
- Issue new credit cards and coordinate replacements
- Maintain communication with cardholders to resolve discrepancies
Tools & Processes
The environment supports a Staff Accountant who enjoys clarity and continuity in processes:
- Accounting system: QuickBooks
- Reconciliations and schedules maintained in Excel with prior‑month visibility
- Regular Excel usage includes VLOOKUPs and pivot tables

Qualifications
The ideal Staff Accountant will meet most of the following:
Must‑Have Requirements
- 2–3 years of accounting experience
- Background in accounts payable with exposure to general ledger work
- Solid understanding of debits, credits, accruals, and prepaid expenses
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or a related field
- Experience with QuickBooks (a plus, not required)
- Strong Excel skills, including reconciliations and data analysis
