TPS Technician
Kennedy Space Center, FL
$26.43-$37.01/Hour
Abilty to Obtain a Secret Clearance
Performs application, mixing, and processing of Thermal Protection Systems (TPS) materials, primers, and specialty coatings on aerospace structures in accordance with engineering drawings and manufacturing specifications.
Responsibilities:
Mix and apply primers, coatings, and TPS foam materials per engineering specifications and process documents
Perform Thermal Protection System (TPS) foam application on aerospace structures
Interpret and work from complex blueprints, engineering drawings, and manufacturing process documentation
Apply chemical coatings and materials while maintaining required mix ratios and material traceability
Work on structures and systems using established drawings and technical requirements
Perform work in confined or tight spaces for extended periods as required by hardware configuration
Qualifications:
High School Diploma or GED
1+ year of related manufacturing or TPS experience (or equivalent combination of education and experience)
Experience with primer mixing, chemical applications, and material ratio control
Ability to interpret engineering drawings and process specifications
Experience working with industrial chemicals and aerospace coatings
Ability to work in confined spaces for extended durations
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience supporting a NASA program
Experience in a clean room manufacturing environment
Manufacturing experience supporting human spaceflight, spaceflight, or aircraft hardware programs
Experience and/or formal coursework in Thermal Protection Systems (TPS)
