CFS is partnering with a private higher education institution in Boston to hire a Billing Specialist who will support student billing operations and contribute to a mission‑driven campus environment. The Billing Specialist plays a key role in ensuring accurate billing, smooth payment processing, and supportive communication to students and families.
The ideal Billing Specialist is detail‑oriented, organized, and enjoys working with both numbers and people. You’ll collaborate closely with Student Financial Services and campus partners to keep billing processes running efficiently.

Job Responsibilities
As the Billing Specialist, you will:
- Generate and distribute accurate student billing statements
- Process cash receipts and post transactions to the general ledger
- Complete month‑end reconciliations for student accounts and payments
- Assist with student refunds and annual 1098‑T tax form processing
- Respond to student and family billing questions with professionalism and clarity
- Troubleshoot escalated account issues and partner with campus departments
- Prepare various reports for internal use and compliance requirements
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or 4+ years of relevant experience
- 3+ years of experience in accounts receivable, billing, or financial services
- Higher education experience is a plus, but not required
- Experience with Colleague software or similar is a major plus
- Strong attention to detail, customer service mindset, and ability to work independently
Salary Range:
$65,000–$80,000, depending on experience
