Overview
A healthcare organization in the Greater Waterbury area is seeking a detail-oriented Payroll Associate to support payroll operations and HR systems. This role plays a key part in ensuring accurate and timely payroll processing while supporting system maintenance, compliance, and employee inquiries.

Key Responsibilities
- Ensure the accuracy and timeliness of employee payroll processing
- Maintain and support HR/Payroll information systems; assist with system updates and enhancements
- Partner with internal IT teams and external vendors to support system functionality (including payroll and HRIS platforms)
- Execute pre- and post-payroll processes, identifying and resolving discrepancies as they arise
- Ensure all mandated payroll filings are completed accurately and on time
- Prepare biweekly check requests related to invoices and payroll deductions
- Process employee-related requests and documentation, including tax forms, verifications, and third-party disability requests
- Manage COBRA-related payments, including tracking, reconciliation, and reporting
- Research and resolve outstanding checks; coordinate unclaimed property processes in compliance with state requirements
- Maintain spreadsheets and support year-end balancing for third-party reporting (e.g., union or benefits-related tracking)
- Process loan repayments and other payroll-related deductions through the payroll system
- Serve as a primary point of contact for payroll vendor-related inquiries and issue resolution
- Support additional data entry and reporting needs as required
- Provide excellent customer service, responding to employee and management inquiries in a timely and professional manner
- Act as a key resource during internal and external audits
- Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications
- Associate’s degree or equivalent experience required
- 2+ years of payroll or HRIS experience preferred, ideally in a high-volume environment
- Strong communication skills with the ability to interact across multiple levels of an organization
- High level of discretion and ability to handle confidential information
- Proficiency with payroll systems and general computer applications; experience with systems such as ADP or similar is a plus
- Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities
- Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment
