Bakery Manager
Otway Bakery in Clinton Hill is looking for a Bakery Manager to lead our bread production team and work hand in hand with our Viennoiserie production team.
Otway Bakery opened in March 2022 after the bread and pastry programs at Otway Restaurant outgrew their original home. We offer a rotating selection of pastries and Viennoiserie as well as breads made daily with a focus on locally sourced flours and grains, some of which are milled in-house. Main Responsibilities:
Opens and/or close the Bakery
Manages the team in their daily responsibilities and provides clear, effective direction
Ensures the bakery is set up for success and side work is continually being monitored and completed.
Work Counter with team as necessary.
Place Orders & Manage Inventory
Upholds our high standards for daily baking and food production
Requirements for Success:
Great team dynamic and ability to maintain positive attitude
Possess a passion for bread & viennoiserie, inquisitive mind, and an eye for quality
Strives for continuous improvement and is eager to learn and grow
Maintains a positive attitude and works effectively as a member of a team
Has a general passion and understanding for all aspects of the baking process: milling, fermentation, mixing, lamination, shaping, and baking
Works cleanly and efficiently
Ability to follow recipes and techniques
Familiarity with bakery equipment: mixers, proofer/retarders, ovens, benchtop mills etc.
Fluent in both written and spoken English
2+ years of applicable bakery experience

While performing the duties of the job, the Baker is regularly required to stand and walk; reach with hands and arms; talk and hear; climb, balance, stoop, kneel, and crouch. They must regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
Compensation: Salary ($67,000.00 - $73,000.00)
