Classification Minimum Requirements:
High School diploma or equivalent; Driver's License
Responsibilities
Performs semi-skilled and unskilled maintenance and repairs in accordance with industry/trade practices.
Provide daily maintenance support to building users through responses to calls for service, scheduled preventative maintenance inspections, and similar services.
Perform tasks including minor plumbing, changing filters, and light bulbs; light carpentry tasks such as replacing ceiling tiles, patching and painting, and installing flooring materials (VCT, plank, carpet tiles); repair stair treads and minor decorative maintenance.
Perform scheduled preventative maintenance and respond to unscheduled or special work.
Paint walls and/or equipment and make minor painting repairs.
Inspect all mechanical and electrical equipment in machine rooms; operate and test machinery and equipment to diagnose malfunctions.
Enter maintenance data via the work order system for work requests and time tracking; maintain shop, work areas, and personal equipment.
Diagnose mechanical problems and promote safety and environmental protection by reporting unsafe situations, spills, and accidents; follow University safety plans/procedures/protocols and participate in safety training.
Assist with room refurbishing including patching walls, doorways, and casework.
Utilize basic computer skills (Excel, Word, and Email).
Follow instructions and take direction.
Work hours: Monday–Friday 8:00am–4:30pm.
Criminal background and post-offer health assessment will be conducted.
Drive a state vehicle that requires a valid driver’s license.
Salary
Expected Salary:
Starting salary $15-$16 per hour, based on experience.
Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent.
Excellent customer service skills with a professional demeanor and positive attitude.
Basic knowledge of or ability to use computers and tablets.
Ability to multi-task while staying on schedule.
The person in this position must be physically able to lift/move equipment weighing up to 50 pounds.
The position requires a valid driver’s license.
