Responsibilities
Assessment & Diagnosis:
Evaluating, testing, and diagnosing speech, language, swallowing, and cognitive disorders, such as aphasia, stuttering, and dysphagia.
Treatment Planning & Execution:
Developing individualized, evidence-based treatment plans and performing therapy to address specific patient needs, including, for instance, rehabilitating stroke victims or treating developmental speech issues in children.
Swallowing & Feeding Therapy:
Helping patients with swallowing disorders (dysphagia) improve muscle function for safe feeding, which often involves working with elderly patients or those with neurological conditions.
Documentation & Monitoring:
Maintaining detailed, accurate records of patient progress, evaluations, and treatment outcomes, adjusting plans as necessary.
Counseling & Education:
Advising patients and families on coping strategies, communication techniques, and dietary changes related to swallowing disorders.
Collaboration:
Working with multidisciplinary teams, including physicians, educators, and nurses, to provide comprehensive care
