
SVP System Chief Medical Officer

The client is seeking a seasoned physician executive to serve as Senior Vice President and System Chief Medical Officer (CMO) in a newly established leadership role. This role is crucial as the client continues to evolve and grow its clinical enterprise across multiple hospitals. Reporting to the Chief Clinical Officer and as part of the executive team, the System CMO will provide leadership for clinical quality, patient safety, professional practice, and medical staff engagement across a multi-hospital system and affiliated physician organizations. The System CMO will have a key role in advancing clinical standards, improving quality and safety outcomes, and promoting a culture of accountability and continuous improvement. Responsibilities include strengthening clinical governance, ensuring consistent care standards, and building trust between medical staff leadership and system administration. The CMO will also oversee performance improvement efforts, support medical staff governance, and provide leadership for regulatory, accreditation, and risk-related matters. Supporting research and academic initiatives is also a key component of this position. The ideal candidate will be a clinically credible physician leader with substantial senior leadership experience in quality, safety, or medical staff functions in a complex healthcare environment. A medical degree and board certification in a clinical specialty are required, along with significant experience in a multi-hospital or integrated health system. Familiarity with regulatory environments such as DNV and CMS is needed, and the candidate should be licensed or eligible for licensure in the State of Georgia. An advanced management degree is preferred. The candidate should demonstrate approachable, credible leadership, capable of fostering collaboration across diverse settings. The role may require visibility and involvement in the communities served.
