Upper School Science Teacher

Roles & Responsibilities

Teach Biology and/or Chemistry at the introductory and AP level Science Courses
Teach one or more elective subjects such as Physics, Psychology, Anatomy & Physiology, and/or Environmental Science
Teach five sections each semester, comprising an average of three preparations
Serve as an Advisor for a group of up to 10 9‑12th grade students, providing guidance in academic, extracurricular, social, and personal development, and acting as a primary liaison with families
Participate in off‑campus experiences, including occasional overnight stays in our Experience‑Centered Seminars
Co‑lead an intensive three‑week Experience‑Centered Seminar in March
Design and implement engaging, differentiated, and globally informed curriculum using project‑based learning, hands‑on investigation, and iterative learning practices
Foster a positive, inclusive classroom culture that supports both academic growth and student well‑being
Provide timely, constructive feedback and maintain accurate records of student progress, including grades, comments, and advisor communications
Communicate regularly with students and families regarding progress and concerns
Collaborate effectively with colleagues and contribute to department and school‑wide initiatives
Attend all required faculty, department, and school meetings
Supervise students and uphold school policies
Essential Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree
Demonstrated content knowledge and passion for science education
Experience teaching or working with young people
Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record and willingness to drive a 15‑passenger vehicle
Ability to supervise students during multi‑day and overnight trips
Proficiency with Google Workspace and/or Microsoft Office
Preferred Qualifications

Advanced degree (Master’s or Ph.D.) in a relevant field
Experience teaching advanced or AP‑level courses
Experience teaching students in grades 9–12
Independent school experience

The salary range for this position is

$47,000–$55,000 annually , based on experience and qualifications.
