Summary
Maintenance Mechanic I is responsible for troubleshooting and maintaining production and packaging equipment to ensure optimal efficiency with minimal scrap. The role requires high urgency, critical thinking, and strong mechanical aptitude.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Perform timely mechanical checks on all assigned equipment to ensure proper adjustments.
Maintain established cycle settings to ensure production quality while minimizing scrap.
Comply with all safety rules, policies, procedures, and LOTO procedures.
Evaluate equipment at shift start to ensure consistent production flow.
Diagnose and troubleshoot machine malfunctions, making adjustments as needed.
Respond immediately to buzzers and alarms to avoid production interruptions.
Perform quality tests on baggers, packaged products, film, and print; document findings.
Conduct daily inspector checks to ensure rejection of defective products.
Manage film roll changeovers and organize film racks daily.
Notify leadership of any failure to meet quality standards for corrective action.
Maintain a clean and safe work area and equipment.
Assist packers with rework when time allows.
Perform additional duties as assigned by Production Lead, Team Supervisor, or Department Manager.
Education and Experience
High School Diploma or GED.
At least 2 years of maintenance experience in a manufacturing environment.
Strong mechanical aptitude and sense of urgency.
Basic computer skills and ability to read, write, and speak English.
Good oral and written communication skills.

Remain stationary for extended periods, stand for long shifts (8‑12 hours).
Talk, walk, sit; use hands to touch, handle, feel objects, tools, and controls; reach with hands and arms; stoop, kneel, crawl or crouch.
Working Conditions
Work space contains moving mechanical parts.
Indoor manufacturing environment with extreme heat and no air conditioning.
Exposure to loud noises, odors, and occasional airborne particles.
Must wear PPE (hairnet, hearing protection, safety glasses with side guards).
Work 8+, 10+, or 12+ hour shifts as designated.
Work weekdays, weekends, and overtime as required.
