Develop and execute high-fidelity softgoods prototypes aligned with industrial design intent and functional requirements.
Support material selection and characterization across textiles, silicones, polymers, and coatings.
Create and refine 2D patterns, perform digital fit checks, and support physical fit validation.
Execute cut-and-sew trials, iterating seams, stitches, and construction details.
Support EVT and DVT builds, including soft tooling for silicone and polymer components.
Perform early DFM/DFx assessments to ensure scalability and manufacturability.
Support prototype validation testing and incorporate feedback into design iterations.
Work closely with cross-functional teams and suppliers to quickly resolve prototype issues.
Document prototype learnings and clearly communicate risks, trade-offs, and recommendations.
Hands-on experience in softgoods prototype development (textiles, silicone, polymers, leather, hybrid constructions).
Strong knowledge of pattern engineering and 2D pattern creation from 3D CAD geometry.
Cut-and-sew expertise including seam construction, stitch types, thread selection, and tension calibration.
Experience with EVT/DVT prototype builds and rapid iteration cycles.
Solid understanding of Design for Manufacturability (DFM/DFx) for softgoods.
Experience integrating hardware into softgoods (buckles, lugs, magnets, connectors).
Familiarity with validation testing (tensile, tear, abrasion, flex, sweat/environmental exposure)
Working knowledge of CAD tools such as Rhino, SolidWorks, Creo, or equivalent
Ability to collaborate with industrial design, mechanical, manufacturing teams, and suppliers.
