
Staff Accountant

The Staff Accountant is an entry-level position responsible for supporting the Finance Department in maintaining accurate and timely financial records for the organization. This role reports directly to the Controller and plays an important part in day-to-day accounting operations.

Reconcile, monitor, and report on cash activity
Record client requisitions and maintain accounts receivable reporting
Process and track subcontractor invoices and payments
Administer and monitor company credit card usage
Prepare and maintain exemption certificates and lien waivers for projects
Review accounts payable transactions for accuracy and completeness
Reconcile general ledger accounts and investigate discrepancies
Prepare and record adjusting journal entries
Support month-end and year-end close processes
Assist in the preparation of audit documentation
Participate in special projects and other duties as assigned
Education & Experience
High school diploma or GED required; Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred
0–2 years of accounting or related experience preferred (internships or relevant coursework considered)
Experience in a construction or trades environment is a plus, but not required
Basic understanding of accounting principles and financial processes
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, with an emphasis on Excel
Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record required
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Strong attention to detail and accuracy
Good communication and customer service skills
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (or willingness to learn quickly)
Demonstrates professionalism and ethical conduct
Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks
Ability to work independently and meet deadlines
Adaptable and willing to learn in a fast-paced environment
Basic understanding of clerical procedures, including recordkeeping and filing systems
General familiarity with office equipment and standard business tools
Ability to learn departmental functions, processes, and applicable regulations
