Construction Accountant

Location: Fully on-site in Danbury, CT

Salary: $120-140k

*Candidates must have experience with Sage 300 to be considered*

Responsibilities of Construction Accountant:

• Manage day-to-day accounting operations for construction projects


• Prepare and analyze budgets, forecasts, and job cost reports


• Maintain accurate financial records and ensure data integrity


• Process accounts payable and accounts receivable transactions


• Track project expenses and monitor budget performance


• Prepare monthly reports and support month-end close


• End-to-end payroll processing, including certified payroll and filing of quarterly tax returns and year-end W-2s


• Partner with project managers to ensure financial accuracy


• Assist with audits and maintain internal controls


• Manage retainage, lien waivers, and contract compliance

Preferred Experience of Construction Accountant:

• Strong knowledge of construction accounting, including job costing and revenue recognition


• Experience with AP/AR and job cost analysis


• Payroll experience, including certified payroll (preferred)


• Experience with month-end close processes, including monthly sales and use tax filings


• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel


• Must have experience with Sage 300 construction accounting systems and Sage Paperless


• Strong knowledge of AIA billing and contract documentation


• Strong organizational, analytical, and multitasking skills


• Bachelor’s degree or higher in accounting


• Construction industry experience preferred
