Overview
The Amherst Regional Public School District is seeking a full-time, highly qualified Special Education Teacher to work with students with mild/moderate disabilities. The successful candidate will collaborate with middle school core content teachers to support students.
Responsibilities
Preparing and providing specially designed instruction
Preparing, adapting, and delivering differentiated lessons (instruction, assignments, and assessment)
Preparing and adapting teaching materials
Checking and assessing student work and providing meaningful feedback
Participation in IEP meetings
Liaison and regular communication with families, professionals and outside agencies
Providing written input for IEPs and progress reports
Collaboration and coordination with paraeducators
Collaboration and planning with general education teachers
Collaboration and consultation with related service providers
Collaboration and consultation with guidance and other mental health team providers
Provide expertise for colleagues on areas related to special education (legal mandates, adapting lessons and student work, assessing progress, grading)
Experience with small group instruction and co-teaching
Use of assistive technology to promote student achievement
Effective classroom management skills and positive behavior management techniques
Qualifications
MA DESE Moderate Disabilities (PK-8 or 5-12) License Required
