Steward Job Responsibilities and Duties
Works closely with Executive Chef and Sous Chef in maintaining the sanitation and cleanliness of the kitchen
Scraping food from dirty dishes, pots, pans, plates, flatware, and glasses, washing dirty dishes and putting them back in their appropriate areas
Assisting with sweeping, mopping and polishing the restaurant, bar, kitchen and equipment
Stocking wait staff stations with napkins, utensils, trays and condiments, and assisting the wait staff with all aspects of service
Ability to follow all sanitation guidelines and guidelines for safe handling of food
Help maintain an orderly, clean kitchen, eating and service areas, storage and cooler/freezer facilities, including condiment, soup, salad, pizza stations and the dish drop off area
Assist with opening and closing tasks as required
Assists Executive Chef or Chef on Duty with whatever is required
Steward Job Requirements
High school diploma or equivalent preferred
A friendly, polite, and courteous nature
Strong customer service and team player skills
Must be current with Food Handlers’ certification
Works well in a fast-paced, high-stress environment
Great communication and coordination skills
Flexibility to work shifts, nights, weekends and holidays
Physical stamina to work long hours on your feet
