Job Description
QUALIFICATIONS:
A four‑year degree from an accredited institution with NC certification in an assigned area of teaching.
REPORTS TO:
Principal
JOB GOAL:
To demonstrate leadership, establish a respectful environment for a diverse population of students, know the content they teach, facilitate learning for their students, and reflect on their practice.
ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Build leadership among staff and with the administration to bring consensus and shared ownership of the school's vision.
Make the content taught engaging, relevant, and meaningful to students’ lives by aligning instruction with the Common Core, essential standards, and 21st‑century content (global awareness, financial literacy, civic literacy, health awareness).
Teach existing core content that is revised to include skills such as critical thinking, problem‑solving, and ICT literacy.
Facilitate instruction using a variety of methods appropriate for students, integrating and utilizing technology.
Use a variety of assessment methods to gauge learning, help students work in teams, and develop leadership qualities.
Collaborate with families and significant adults, adapt teaching for students with special needs, and promote fairness in the school community.
Demonstrate ethical principles including honesty, integrity, fair treatment, and respect for others (Code of Ethics for NC Educators, NCAC 6C.0601; Standards of Professional Conduct for NC Educators, NCAC 6C.0602).
Serve as a team player and role model for other employees, demonstrating a commitment to continuous quality improvement and supporting the organization’s core values of caring, respect, integrity, responsibility, high expectations, customer‑directedness, and fairness.
Perform other duties and accept responsibilities as assigned.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Communicate orally and in writing with parents, staff, and community leaders.
Have finger dexterity and perform basic operational functions such as kneeling, sitting, walking, stooping, reaching, lifting, pushing, pulling, talking, seeing, hearing, and repetitive motion.
APPLICATION REQUIREMENTS FOR ALL APPLICANTS
Current certified teachers must upload a legible copy of an official transcript for all degree levels in PDF format only, a copy of an NC teaching license or other current license, and a resume.
Residency candidates must upload a legible copy of official bachelor’s transcripts in PDF format only, any previously licensed information, and a resume.
International applicants not affiliated with a sponsoring program must upload a legible copy of an original foreign transcript, a copy of an officially evaluated transcript from a reputable company in PDF format only, a copy of the Social Security Card and a front/back copy of either the work authorization card or permanent resident card, and a resume.

Background check with local and state law enforcement agencies required.
