Day to Day
In this role, you will bring your technical expertise on a wide variety of transportation, safety, trails, and multimodal projects, such as Active Transportation Plans, Corridor Studies, Safe Routes to School Plans, and Vision Zero or Safety Action Plans. You’ll lead and contribute to technical planning tasks, including evaluating data, assisting with GIS mapping, and conducting site visits and assessments, and then apply your knowledge of multimodal transportation to develop recommendations for our clients. You’ll facilitate public outreach activities, including virtual and in-person workshops, site audits, pop-up events, charettes, and demonstration projects. You’ll use your writing, research, GIS mapping, and graphics skills to develop reports, presentations, and plans. And you’ll have an opportunity to use and develop project management skills while collaborating with a multidisciplinary team of planners, engineers, landscape architects, program specialists, graphic designers, and engagement specialists.
Qualifications
Required:
4-6+ years of experience for Planner III , with preferred experience being in a consulting environment.
Broad knowledge of and interest in multimodal transportation and safety planning or community planning
Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication, and analytic skills
Ability to lead, prepare, and contribute to the preparation of plans, reports, memos, and presentation materials
Proficient with Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
Ability to independently work on multiple projects and complete tasks at a high level of quality
Ability to facilitate public outreach and conduct site visits
Desire to collaborate and participate in multidisciplinary teams of planners, engineers, and landscape architects
Demonstrated understanding of the planning process and a general understanding of project management principles, methods, and techniques
Exhibits accuracy, attention to detail, and strong organizational skills
Bachelor’s degree in community or transportation planning, landscape architecture, or engineering. Other bachelor’s degrees will be considered if applicable experience can be demonstrated by the candidate
Experience with ArcGIS Pro, Adobe Illustrator, InDesign, and/or Acrobat, and ability to prepare graphics and maps
Experience managing planning projects including project budgets
Experience mentoring entry-level staff and interest to help train new planning staff
Some experience with public speaking with an interest to improve and gain more experience presenting to groups, during client meetings, or at conferences
Master’s degree in planning or related field
Consulting experience
Urban design experience, policy assessment and development, transit planning, trail planning, or other specialized experience in community planning or transportation
Membership in a professional practice organization
AICP Certification or other professional design licensure

$75,000 – $93,000
annually. Placement within the range is based upon experience, skill sets, and qualifications.
