Day to Day
In this role, a Project Accountant will ensure cost and revenues are accurately reported for all projects for month end, assisting with project set up, accounting and project related reporting. You will be collaborating with Project Managers, Billing Specialist and other project accountants to maintain budgets, approving subcontractor invoices, consolidating invoicing packets, supporting and reviewing project proposals. As Project Accountant you will be responsible for maintaining project folders, focusing on the accuracy and completeness of the necessary project documentation.

Key responsibilities include:

Financial Management:

Oversee the financial aspects of projects, including budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting

Budget Preparation:

Assist in the preparation of project budgets and ensure they are aligned with project goals and objectives

Cost Tracking:

Monitor and track project costs, ensuring they are within budget and identify any variances

Reporting:

Prepare and present financial reports to project managers and other stakeholders, providing insights and recommendations

Compliance:

Ensure all financial activities comply with company policies, procedures, and relevant regulations

Invoicing:

Manage project invoicing, ensuring timely and accurate billing to clients

Risk Management:

Identify and mitigate financial risks associated with projects

Collaboration:

Work closely with project managers, finance team, and other stakeholders to ensure the financial success of projects, attending project‑related meetings to discuss project status

Documentation:

Maintain accurate and up‑to‑date financial records for all assigned projects

Qualifications
Required

3-5 years of work experience required in project accounting or a similar role

Experience in a deadline-driven, project-based environment

Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)

Strong initiative, ability to manage competing priorities and multiple, simultaneous tasks

Ability to work independently with little supervision and as part of a team

Attention to detail and strong organizational skills

Preferred

Experience in engineering, construction, or architecture

Experience with Deltek or VantagePoint

Experience with automated project management applications (Microsoft Project)

Associate’s or Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field

Pursuit of CAPM or PMP

Compensation
The pay range for this job in

Denver

is

$60,000-$70,000

annually. Placement within the range is based upon experience, skill‑sets, and qualifications.
